Setting Up Shop!

Looking to set up an online store for handmade pieces, jewellery, bags, cushions, bag charms, hair accessories, craft accessories etc.

Anyone able to lend a girl some advice???

I have a friend who may be able to get me some decent pictures of finished pieces etc for the site so that side is fine but I'm short of cash etc hence the shop and I've not ever put one together before so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

I think its something most craft minded people consider at some time or another. The thing is - which I'm sure you already know - its hard to make enough to pay us a reasonable hourly rate. I have made money from time to time with both cross stitch and beaded jewellery but generally I spend far more than I make. My main advice would be play to the season esp things like teacher pressies towards the end of term etc. When you handmake things make sure you show them off in person whenever you can because this is where you get commissions. Also do you have any other interests you could cater to... what I mean is like with me I go on a forum for hamster breeders and someone on there makes jewellery from little fimo hamsters and because you can't get many hammy related things they go down a storm. Finally good luck. Your stuff is gorgeous and I'm sure lots of people will want to buy it. Lucy x

Thanks Lucy, I have quite a large variety or interests and have written a list of things I can make and the materials needed, just need to make a new list for fabric materials on my excel pages to be able to accurately price everything up lol, thanks for the advice! I cover, quilting, jewellery, free hand sewing, fabric painting, painting/drawing, crochet, knitting and cross stitch although I don't think I'll be knitting/crocheting! lol
