Corset is finished!!!!!

Finally finished it today and handed it in for assessment.

Ok so it’s not completely finished. It has no lace along the bust line (tutor didn’t like the one I bought) and there is no flossing on the boning panels. I didn’t want to have half of it flossed and half of it not when I handed it in so decided I would finish those when I get it back. Hopefully next week.

Anyway it now has all it’s boning and the edges have been bound. Here it is on the stand.

Almost there...

Well once again I have worked on my Teddy Wizard but not really much to report, just worked on his stars today so they are now ready to outline. I have chosen a gold Madeira thread that came free with a magazine, to outline all of his stars. The pattern says to use an apricot colour but I thought the sparkle would make them stand out more!

So here is my teddy.



I have also managed to piece the rest of my corset together too.

Here are the hip panels and centre busk added.



And here it is with the last 2 panels. One to cover the seam of the hip panels and one for the centre back panel, which will have eyelets, punched into it.

So much to do...

My achievements for today are:
Worked on my Teddy Wizard
Finished piecing together my corset.

Teddy Wizard has finished feet and a floor to stand on. I also got quite a lot of the outlines on his robe finished too. Only the stars to stitch now.



I managed to get the central panels of my corset sewn together.



Five more panels for each side left and then it’s ready to insert the boning, bind the edges, add the lace and floss all the boning ends.

Ouch!!!

Well today got off to a good start, popped into Macdonalds on the way to uni this morning and got a very nice sausage and egg mcmuffin! Yummmmmmm. Then got to uni early which is always good. Got my panels cut out for my corset and then realised I didn't have my backing fabric so had to cut that out too.

Anyway finally got them all cut out and paired up. I then decided to do a little sample of the colours I had for the topstitching and ended up choosing my first choice which was a pearlescent white thread. I then made up a cording sample and began cording my panels. Although after the third panel, I was cutting the cording for it and this happened.



Yep cut my finger lol, can't get a very clear photo though I'm afraid. And as the university had no plasters in the first aid box, this is how I ended up leaving this afternoon.



Sorry if I have grossed you out at all.

Anyway I managed to get all of my panels corded despite having a finger out of use lol. So here is a slideshow of them all finished.

My corset...

Well today I made up a toile (mock up) for my corset and chose my final fabric. Which unfortunately I pinned my panels on it twice, and they were both wrong. As the fabric is so thick it took me quite a long time to do and so ended up bringing it all home to do at the weekend.

Started my corset...

Well at Uni today I had my toile crit for my corset. The shape and fit were absolutely fine, but we had straightened all our panels as they were twisting awkwardly when we tried them curved on the stand. Anyway the tutors drew on the new panel shapes and we cut it up to take new patterns from.



I even got a little done on my Italy heart too. Day two's progress.
